ABOUT US

Clear Guidance. Calm Confidence. Safer Movement.

SecureStep is an independent, author-led educational platform dedicated to helping older adults reduce the risk of trips and falls, and move through everyday life with greater confidence.

The work is grounded in real-world observation, evidence-based principles, and a deep respect for how older people actually live, move, and learn.

Why SecureStep Exists

Falls are often spoken about in alarming terms.
SecureStep takes a different approach.

We focus on:

  • Understanding why trips and falls happen

  • Recognising small, everyday risk factors

  • Teaching safer movement and safer use of space

  • Building confidence, not fear

The goal is not perfection, it’s awareness, steadiness, and practical progress.

Made for three kinds of readers

  • Older Adults (60+)

Who want to stay active, independent, and confident at home and in the community.

  • Educators

Who want practical guidance to support loved ones without taking away independence.

  • Service Providers

Who need evidence-based, teachable materials that integrate easily into existing programs.

MEET THE AUTHOR

Patrick John Jee

Architect • Educator • Senior-Care Volunteer

Patrick John Jee brings a rare, cross-disciplinary perspective to falls prevention.

Born in Sibu, Sarawak in 1951, Patrick’s life journey spans multiple countries, professions, and creative pursuits. After completing an Architecture degree at the University of Adelaide, he built a varied career that included private practice, business ownership, and hands-on creative work.

In retirement, Patrick devoted over 15 years to volunteering in nursing homes and community settings, where he witnessed firsthand how easily trips and falls can change confidence, independence, and quality of life.

These experiences shaped a simple belief:

Falls prevention should be understandable, practical, and dignified.

SecureStep, and the Balance for Life eBook were created to reflect that belief.
